Cookies

Close Brothers uses technologies which collect information from your device when you use our digital services (including websites, apps and email). We refer to these technologies as cookies, however they may include cookies, pixels, tags or web beacons.

Some of the cookies we use are necessary for the function of our services, whilst others are optional and are used to deliver a personalised, secure, and high performant experience. If you decide to consent to these optional cookies, you can change your settings at any time.

This page explains how, why, and when we use cookies across Close Brothers digital services. In this policy, where we say ‘Close Brothers, ‘we’, ‘us’ or ‘our’, we mean the Close Brothers business that is placing the cookie and using its data.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small files that are placed on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website.

Cookies can be used in different ways; ‘Session cookies’ help us to understand your experience and tell us how we can improve our services, whilst ‘Persistent cookies’ remain on your device for a fixed duration (up to two years) and help us to personalise your experience next time you visit.

The cookies we use are either placed directly by Close Brothers (‘a first party cookie’) or by the partners we work with to deliver your online experience such as a social media platform or search engine (‘a third-party cookie’).

The types of cookie we use:

You can manage your cookie settings at any time.

In addition, most web browsers allow some control of most cookies through the browser settings. To find out more about cookies, including how to see what cookies have been set and how to manage and delete them, visit www.allaboutcookies.org.

To the extent that any of the cookies described above collect personal information about a user of our website that personal information will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Cookies in emails

Close Brothers sometimes adds pixels to the emails that we send. These help us to understand whether an email has been delivered, whether it has been opened and whether you clicked on any of the links contained within the email.

We do this so we can gain insight and improve our communications. It also supports us in evidencing compliance with Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) requirements when we need to send you mandatory communications about your account or our service.
