Rebecca McNeil, CEO Retail
Prior to joining Close Brothers in 2018, Rebecca held a number of senior finance roles at Barclays Bank, including COO, Business Banking for Barclays UK. She joined Barclays Corporate Banking in 2014 after five years at GE Money, where she held roles in recoveries and partnerships. She began her financial services career in 2001 as a graduate trainee at American Express.
Paul Trail, Managing Director
Highly regarded in the Industry, Paul started his career with National Mutual Insurance Company of Australia, Paul joined Close Brothers in 2010 having previously held senior sales positions at HSBC for nine years and Citibank for 11 years. With many years’ experience in the Financial Services industry, he now heads up the Sales Team responsible for building and developing relationships with our brokers. When not working, he can be found playing golf, supporting West Ham and spending time with his wife and family.
Gillian Kelly, Finance Director
Gillian joined Close Brothers in 2015 as Head of Financial Planning and Analysis, in July 2017 Gillian was promoted to the position of Finance Director for Close Brothers Premium Finance. Her key priority in this role is working with brokers to provide pricing structures which fit the needs of their customers and support their business model. Gillian is also responsible for reporting the results for the business and supervising the finance function to manage the financial risks. Prior to joining Close Brothers, Gillian qualified as a chartered accountant at PwC and then transferred to Industry as Head of Finance EMEA for Aberdeen Asset Management, where she worked for three years until her move from Scotland to London.
Ailish Cleary-Vertullo, HR Business Partner
Ailish joined Close Brothers in November 2015 as HR Business Partner for the Asset Finance and Leasing businesses. In October 2018 she moved to partner the leaderships for both Close Brothers Premium Finance and Close Brothers Property Finance. Ailish works with both leadership teams to ensure the people and engagement strategies underpin the overall business objectives. Prior to joining Close Brothers, Ailish worked for Arthur J Gallagher and Cigna Insurance Services. Away from work Ailish is learning to speak Italian and enjoys playing sports; the current challenge is tennis.
Nicole Corfield, Risk Director
Nicole joined Close Brothers in February 2019 as Risk Director for the Premium Finance business. She is responsible for identification, reporting, management and escalation of all risk matters relating to the Premium Finance portfolio. Nicole read law at the University of Wales and is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. Following her accountancy training, she moved into banking and has gained extensive experience of director level roles within HBoS and Barclays, including distressed debt management, underwriting and model risk strategy.
Carmel Kinloch, Chief Information Officer
Carmel joined Close Brothers Premium Finance in June 2019 as Chief Information Officer. Carmel is a Business Change & Transformation Leader with experience in global, Blue Chip companies and entrepreneurial/SME environments in the airline, utilities, banking, insurance, consulting and retail sectors. Carmel’s previous roles include IT & Transformation Director at Drax Group, UK, and IT Transformation Director with Commonwealth Bank of Australia, British Airways and Qantas Airlines.
Steve Wallis, Commercial Director
Steve joined Close Brothers in 2017 and is responsible for driving the commercial strategy of premium finance. Having worked within the industry for over 15 years he provides a vast amount of industry knowledge and experience. A Physics graduate from the University of Manchester, he started his career at RSA, prior to being a consultant for a general insurance solution provider, giving him a strong background in both Insurance and IT. Steve is married with three daughters and enjoys a range of active pursuits including running and skiing.
Mark Morley, Chief Operating Officer
Mark joined Close Brothers Premium Finance just over 18 months ago as Head of Product and Proposition before moving into his current role as Chief Operating Officer. Prior to this, his working career has mainly been in insurance broking, both personal lines and commercial. Mark has worked for three different insurance brokers of different sizes in a variety of roles from sales to managing call centres, the last broker he worked for was Swinton where he ran the premium finance book of business, which included full profit and loss responsibility as well as being responsible for the operational teams and associated processes. Mark was also a member of the leadership team overseeing the day to day running of the Swinton business. Mark has a great understanding of the needs of brokers whilst also knowing the core journeys for Close Brothers Premium Finance.
Natalie Evans, Head of Consumer Credit/Regulatory Legal
Natalie first joined Close Brothers in 2013 as Legal Counsel, in April 2019 Natalie was promoted to Head of Consumer Credit/Regulator for the Bank. Within Close Brothers, Natalie is responsible for ensuring our customer documentation is compliant with legislation, and supports our brokers and their customers on new regulations. Prior to joining Close Brothers, Natalie qualified as a Solicitor in 2007 and held positions at Shoosmiths and DWF.
